Why study at AUA?

Great Teachers

Study at AUA with a select group of our best teachers.  Every teacher has graduated from a Western university and understands university life and the problems you may have there.   Most of our teachers have done post-graduate work, so they understand the pressure of research and the challenge of writing a thesis.  All of our teachers have been specially trained to teach English as a Foreign Language, and can help you develop your language to the level needed for university.

Small, Personalized Classes

AEP class sizes are small.  A typical class will have 8-12 students, with an upper limit of 16.

Get ready before you go

Living abroad is a great opportunity, but it's also stressful and expensive.  Why not develop your English language and study skills before you go?  Build up your daily exposure to English and Western culture while you study at AUA, and then extend your learning with English activities after class.  Your expenses and stress levels are reduced, so that the time you spend learning is fully productive.

A realistic introduction to university life

Studying in the academic program is not just about language.  At AUA you will be in a university mini-environment, and will learn English while doing the same things you will do abroad.  You're not just learning English; you're developing crucial study skills for the university  and your future career.    Of course university life isn't just in the classroom.  You will meet new friends at AUA, and can enjoy all the facilities our campus and central location have to offer.

Great Facilities

AUA has great facilities to help you study and learn.  We offer a quiet tree-lined campus in the heart of central Bangkok with convenient mass-transit.  Our library has over 15,000 volumes specializing in life abroad, and more than 600 video documentaries on American culture and history.  The Library is also home to our Student learning Center where AEP students can study free, use the computerized resources and teacher counselors.  In the Library you will also find our full-time academic counselor and a complete guide to studying in America at the hundreds of universities there.

AUA has a fully equipped computer classroom for AEP use, two cafeterias and even tennis courts.  The AUA auditorium is used for our graduation, and countless cultural activities throughout the year.  In short, AUA is your introduction to foreign university life right here in Bangkok.

Central location close to mass transit

AUA is located in the center of Bangkok, just north of Lumpini Park.  We are just steps away from the Rajdamri BTS (Skytrain) station, and minutes from the Silom subway (MRT) station. We also provide free student parking with easy access to Rajdamri Road.  Close to AUA you will find Siam Square, Central World, the Paragon and MBK shopping centers, and the bookstore of Chulalongkorn University.  The American Embassy, and the office buildings of Silom and Sathorn roads are only a few minutes away.  Click here for a map.

A Focus on learning and teaching

AUA is a non-profit foundation.  That means our focus is on service to the community and on learning language and culture.  Students aren't just customers at AUA, they are the central reason AUA exists.  Enjoy learning in an institution that values education more than money, and that is truly dedicated to your future as you prepare to study in an English language setting abroad or in Thailand.

Lower Fees

Getting the best value for your money is always important.  AUA's mission is to serve its students, and our fees are some of the lowest in Thailand.
