Programs and Courses at AUA

There are three difference courses
1.Regular Courses are the core multi-skills English language program. There are two introductory levels, followed by 15 levels leading to a certificate of Proficiency in English. All new students must take the AUA placement test and be placed at the appropriate level. more
2.Special Courses  provide an opportunity to supplement study in the Regular Program, to continue study after Level 15, or for non-AUA students to study special subjects. Courses focus on specific language skills or purposes. more
3.Academic English Program (Intensive Course) is designed for students who plan advanced academic study in programs taught in English. The program also serves students who want to achieve an advanced level of English for professional purposes. The program progresses from low intermediate through to advanced levels of English study. more

How many categories of Regular course are there?

There are to 3 categories as follows:
Three - Week Course:
    Class last for 110 minutes, Monday - Friday. Students complete one level in 3 weeks. This course is offered at 8.00 - 9.55 a.m., 10.00 - 11.55 a.m., 12.30 - 2.25 p.m. and 2.30 - 4.25 p.m.
Six-Week Course:
   Students who wish to study one 30-hour level each term can choose a daily class between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Each class is 55 minutes in length, Monday - Friday.
   Students who wish to study two levels during each term (60 hors) can study in classes which last 110 minutes. These accelerated classes are offered at 8.00 - 9.55 a.m., 10.00 - 11.55 a.m., 12.30 - 2.25 p.m., 2.30 - 4.25 p.m. and 5.00 - 6.55 p.m.
   Students who wish to study one 30-hour level each term can choose a class which is held 2/3 days a week (see below): Mon/Wed/Fri or Tue/Thur/Fri. Class are available at 8.00 - 9.55 a.m., 10.00 - 11.55 a.m., 12.30 - 2.25 p.m., 2.30 - 4.25 p.m., 5.00 - 6.55 p.m. and 7.00 - 8.55 p.m.
Saturday Course:Classes last for 3 hours per Saturday, with 10 weeks in a term. Class hours are 8.00 a.m. - 11.00 a.m., 11.30 a.m. - 2.30 p.m. and 3.00 - 6.00 p.m. A fifteen minute break is taken after 90 minutes.

How to apply?

Applicants for study at AUA must be at least 15 years old and bring the following documents;
1) Educational record M.3 (Grade 9) or above
2) Identity card or passport

What is the qualification of AUA's teacher?

All teachers are native English speakers with at least a bachelor's degree. Many have master's degrees in various fields and credentials in teaching English as a foreign language. A TEFL certificate and teaching experience are also required.


What is the AUA Placement Test?

This test covers the areas of listening, reading and language use. The test ensures that students get the best English language education while at AUA .
