Join us:   Chiang Mai course dates to be announced

Since its introduction to Thailand in 2003, the SIT TESOL Certificate Course has become established as one of the few genuinely international ESL/EFL teacher training courses offered in Thailand. Now hosted in six continents, the Thai host sites have been able to combine the international know-how and reputation of SIT with the local knowledge and expertise of AUA.

About the AUA Language Center, Chiang Mai

AUA Chiang Mai has been providing English language instruction to the north of Thailand since 1957, and has been located in the center of the city for the past 20 years. With over 800 students, AUA Chiang Mai is the largest private language institute in Northern Thailand, and one of AUA's biggest branches.

The location

AUA Chiang Mai is located downtown in the heart of the old city. The school is less than a minute's walk from the Tapae Gate, on Ratchadamnoen Rd.

This area is surrounded by all the facilities a teacher-in-training could want: cheap restaurants offering all kinds of food, food stalls, coffee shops, bakeries, laundromats, markets, travel agencies, stationary stores, convenience stores, Internet cafes, and more.

The facilities

The AUA Chiang Mai buildings are located in two large, leafy compounds that have a traditional Thai-style atmosphere. The buildings house offices, a library, a teachers' resource room, a kitchen, ten air-conditioned classrooms, and a large training room with computer and Internet access, in which SIT courses are held.

Accommodation

There is a seemingly endless supply of accommodation options within a 10-minute walk of AUA Chiang Mai. Places can be found both inside the moat area (where AUA is located) and on the other side of the Tapae Gate.

Choices include guest houses, hotels, apartments and serviced apartments. Most places offer monthly rates. These commonly range from 3,000 baht for a basic furnished room with private bathroom and TV to 20,000 baht for a large, tastefully decorated, serviced apartment or hotel room.
