NATURAL ENGLISH (NE1, NE2, NE3 & NE4)
Natural English is a fun way to learn real conversational English. Cartoons, jokes, short readings and classroom discussions help students improve their conversational strategies, vocabulary, and confidence in speaking. The book is divided into four sections, so it takes four terms to finish. Classes are numbered NE1, NE2, NE3 and NE4 to show which section of the book is being covered this term. Students may study NE1 to NE4 in any order.
TOEFL SKILLS (TOEFL 1 & TOEFL 2)
This course covers test techniques for the reading, listening and speaking portions of the new integrated iBT TOEFL. Students interested in further developing their writing skills should also take Writing for Exams. Students may study TOEFL 1 or TOEFL 2 in any order.
WRITING FOR EXAMS -iBT TOEFL & IELTS
Writing for exams helps students develop the writing skills to plan and write an academic essay in 30 minutes – the type of writing needed for the TOEFL and IELTS exams. After registering, you will be given a writing placement test, which is free of charge. A score of 3 on the writing placement test is necessary in order to qualify for Writing for Exams.
TOEIC PREPARATION (TOEIC 1 & TOEIC 2)
This course is in 2 parts and helps prepare students to sit for the TOEIC test. In TOEIC 1 students will learn strategies to improve their listening comprehension. In TOEIC 2 the focus is on reading comprehension. Both courses will also cover grammar and vocabulary. Students may take TOEIC 1 or TOEIC 2 in any order.
INTERACTIVE LISTENING (IL1& IL2)
This course is a fun way to develop listening skills, such as listening for main ideas, listening for details, and making inferences. Classes have active, real-life listening tasks from different cultural settings, and also include discussion and pronunciation activities. Students use knowledge they already have in grammar, vocabulary and their own life experiences, and build effective listening strategies for any situation. Students may study IL1 or IL2 in any order.
