Special Courses 2008

Special Courses provide an opportunity to supplement study in the regular program, to continue study after Level 15, or for new AUA students to study a specific language skill or English for a special purpose.

1. Interactive Listening

— This course is a fun and interesting way to develop listening skills for any situation. Requires a Placement Test score of Level 7 or completion of Regular Course Level 6. Students above Level 12 may not take this course.

2. General Writing

— The program focuses on writing paragraphs and essays for different purposes. Requires a Placement Test score of Level 7 or completion of Regular Course Level 6. After registering in the Program students take the Writing Placement Test free of charge.

3. General Business English

— General Business English is a course for lower level students interested in, or working in a business environment.
Requires a Placement Test score between Levels 3 and 7 or completion of Regular Course Levels 2 to 8. Students above Level 8 may not take this course.

4. Reading

— This course is designed to help students develop reading, vocabulary and critical thinking skills.
Book 1(Levels 1 - 3): Requires a Placement Test score between Levels 7 and 10 or completion of Regular Course Levels 6 to 9.
Book 2 (Levels 4 - 6): Requires a Placement Test score of Level 11 or completion of Regular Course Level 10.

5. Natural English

— Natural English is a fun way to learn general conversational English, using cartoons, jokes, short readings and classroom conversations.
Requires a Placement Test score of Level 9 or completion of Regular Course Level 8.

6. Conversation for Business and Travel

— International Express is a more advanced course designed to meet the practical language needs of working adults who need English at work, for travel, and for socializing confidently in English.
Requires a Placement Test score of Level 11 or completion of Regular Course Level 10.
